KAY

I have always loved animals. Until starting a pet-sitting business, my work, however, did not reflect this love. My employment history includes substitute teaching in the Chicago Public School system, selling real estate, and work as a flight attendant for a U.S.-based carrier.

While flying, I attended graduate school and received a doctorate in counseling psychology. The effect of managed health care on employment in the field of mental health prevented mefrom seeking work as a psychologist. I sought instead for a volunteer position that would be meaningful to me. That brought me to Tree House Animal Foundation.

I have volunteered happily for seven years at Tree House. Two of these years were spent in their clinic where I learned to give fluids and medications to cats. I am presently part of Tree House’s Socialization Program for abandoned and abused cats. This experience provides me with ongoing lessons in animal behavior.
A light bulb went on one day at Tree House when I realized I could combine my lifelong love of animals with work. This led to the start-up of Purr-Fect Pals and here I am today doing the kind of work I probably was always meant to do…the kind that brings much personal happiness.

SANDY

Hi, my name is Sandy, one of the owners of Purr-fect Pals. I’m originally from outside the Cleveland, Ohio area, where I grew up in a small farming community. We always had pets. Dogs, cats, even birds!

I have lived in Chicago for the past 20 years, and have worked as an International Flight Attendant. The time off from my job has afforded me the opportunity to obtain a bachelor’s degree in French. I also use the time to volunteer my time to The Tree House Animal Foundation, where I work with cats that need positive human contact, so that they can be adopted into loving homes.

As a person who travels, I recognize the important of having a responsible person to care for my cats while I’m away. It’s always reassuring to walk in the door, and to see that they have been fed and attended to.

MILLIE

Hi and welcome to Purr-fect Pals!
My name is Millie. I was born in New York City and have lived in Chicago since 1976. I am a Flight Attendant for a major airline. I have been married for 26 years and have two grown daughters.

I have always been an animal lover and currently share my home with two very independent cats (Sheba and Mischa). Being part owner of Purr-fect Pals has allowed me to extend my family by including all of my furry pals.

Each and every one of them has found a special place in my heart.
They have enriched my life beyond words.
